The Olde City Day School of Philadelphia

Our mission is to provide the best in Early Childhood Education, because with a solid foundation a child has limitless opportunities.

This approach to early childhood learning, which is eclectic and faith-based, was developed by the creators through years of research and experience in the field focusing on building each child's emotional, social, cognitive and physical skills.

The Olde City Day School integrates various philosophies, including the Montessori method and the developmental psychology of multiple intelligences into everyday activities Offering a wide range of enriching activities to meet the individual needs of each child. The staff is credentialed, highly trained and skilled, and their relationships with the children are singularly important. The teachers develop lessons collaborating with each other, based on the children's inquiries and interests.

Our teaching themes introduce ideas and concepts that invite the children to explore our world, and provide the foundations for scaffolding children's learning.
The classrooms are specialized with particular materials and equipment.
The building itself is considered as a teaching medium, and so it's architectural design is research-based to create optimal environments for children.

Casey Lyn Daneker is our Director.
Casey Daneker Director of The Olde City Day School of Philadelphia

Casey is very excited to join the Olde City Day School team. Graduating from Temple University in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education English, Casey jumped right into the management role. For the past three years, Casey has co-managed one of the most successful tutoring agencies in the country. There she shined in the leadership role, directing forty-five teachers tutoring students in enrichment and remedial work focusing on verbal and math. During her time there, Casey implemented various curricula ranging from Pre-K to 12th grade. Her passion for being a life-long learner and helping others has had a contagious effect on everyone who walks in the door.

Casey enjoys cooking and prides herself on not using recipes but by using her taste buds. She loves traveling but once she comes home she falls more in love with Philadelphia. She is competitive and a strong leader which she obtained from playing 15 years of softball. One of her other hobbies is writing, which takes up most of her time on the weekends. Growing up around the suburbs of Philadelphia, Casey is the oldest of four and understands the importance of family values. She is looking forward to meeting the families and students of Olde City Day School.

Alicia O'Gwynn
I'm 26 years old, mother of two small children ages four and five.  I have my AA in Education and as of December 2010 my BA in Psychology, focusing primarily on developmental psychology and the biological basis of behavior.  I am taking a year off from my academics so as to gain more experience with children and effectively utilize my knowledge of psychology and education in order to prepare myself for returning back to school and earning my MA in Psychology.  After that, I would like to maintain a career in which I'll get to work with children whether in a lab/research setting or among the educational realm.  Being that I am a mother and have spent many years studying children and their behavior, I have a lot to offer my own children as well as others.
I am was originally born in Mobile, AL and spent the majority of my youth in New Orleans, LA.  From there I moved to Philadelphia, PA where I started my collegiate life at Gloucester County College in New Jersey.  I chose the small school suburban setting to begin my education because they offered a one on one learning type environment conducive to my educational goals.  At GCC, I maintained either the President's List or the Dean's List.  I was awarded for my academic excellence and was a member of both the National Honors Society and The Society for Leadership and Success.  After earning my Associate's Degree in Education, I was accepted into the University of Pennsylvania where I have been studying psychology and neurology for three years now.  In December of 2010, I would have earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and will return for my Master's.
